Tensor School: India's first practitioner-led engineering program

If you have been searching for "Tensor School" or "Tensor School Bangalore", you have likely heard the buzz. You might have heard about a college where students get MacBooks, where Google engineers teach classes, or where internships start in the 2nd year.

But what exactly is Tensor School? Is it a college? A bootcamp? Is the degree valid?

As a founding team member and Chief of Business, I am writing this comprehensive guide to answer every question you have about Tensor School of Computer Science & AI.

What is Tensor School?

Tensor School is a new-generation engineering institution based in Bangalore. It offers a 4-Year UG Program in Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence.

Unlike traditional engineering colleges run by academicians, Tensor School is built on the "Medical Model" of education: just as doctors teach medical students, software engineers from top tech companies teach our engineering students.

Partner University

The degree is awarded in partnership with S-VYASA University (Deemed-to-be University, Bangalore), ensuring your degree is UGC-recognized and globally valid.

Parent Organization

Tensor School is the undergraduate wing of AlgoUniversity, a Y-Combinator backed ed-tech startup that has helped thousands of students crack jobs at FAANG companies.

The Story: From AlgoUniversity to Tensor School

To understand Tensor School, you need to understand our roots.

Our founder Manas Kumar Verma (Ex-Directi, Quant Trader) started AlgoUniversity with a single goal: to bridge the gap between college degrees and industry skills. I joined the mission early on to lead growth, and together with a team of IIIT-Hyderabad alumni and FAANG engineers, we spent years training final-year students who had been failed by the traditional system.

We helped them crack offers at Google, Microsoft, and Uber. But we realized something crucial: Why wait until the 4th year to fix a student's career?

We decided to build the college we wish we had. We took the high-impact curriculum of AlgoUniversity, integrated it with a formal UG degree, and established Tensor School.

Meet Your Mentors: The "Practitioner" Difference

At most colleges, "industry exposure" means one guest lecture a year. At Tensor School, the people designing your syllabus and reviewing your code are industry veterans.

"You don't just learn from them; you become them."

Top 5 Reasons Why Students Choose Tensor School

If you are looking for Tensor School reviews, here is what sets us apart from colleges like VIT, SRM, or even newer private universities:

#1

The "Practitioner-Led" Pedagogy

At most colleges, you learn from professors who haven't coded in industry for decades. At Tensor School, your mentors are engineers working at Google, Apple, Rippling, and Microsoft. They review your code, guide your architecture, and conduct your mock interviews.

#2

Guaranteed Internships (Earn While You Learn)

We don't believe you should wait 4 years to earn.

  • Year 1: Intense skill building (Full Stack, DSA).
  • Year 2 onwards: You are eligible for guaranteed paid internships.
  • Impact: Many students recover a significant portion of their Tensor School fees through stipends before graduating.
#3

Capped Intake (No Crowd)

While colleges like VIT and Manipal admit 2,000+ students, Tensor School admits only 240 students for the 2026 batch. This ensures a student-to-mentor ratio that actually works.

#4

World-Class Tech Stack

  • Hardware: Every student receives a MacBook to ensure a uniform, high-performance development environment.
  • Software: We use proprietary AI tools like CodeCanva and CodeGenie to personalize your learning pace.
#5

Location Advantage

Located in Bangalore, the campus is in the heart of India's startup ecosystem. Networking isn't an event; it's a daily occurrence.

Tensor School Placements: The Data

When searching for Tensor School placements, transparency is key. Because we focus on a small, elite cohort, our outcomes skew significantly higher than the industry average.
